The History Of Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the Knowledge of Life and the Science of Life. Ayurveda- an age -old way of life, is the most ancient system of comprehensive medicine that man ever knew. Evolved more than 15,000 years ago, it is a natural and holistic healing technique that believes in treating essentially the individual rather than the disease itself. The truth that Ayurveda has a prescribed cure for all known diseases and the fact that it has no side effects, since all medicines are mainly made up of herbs, makes it so great. Ayurveda states that disease is a state caused by disturbances in one's equilibrium. The three "Doshas" (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) maintain equilibrium. Kapha is the entire physical volume in a living organism. Pitta the entire biochemical processes operating in a living body. Vata that which constitutes bodily movement and activity including nervous system.

A disturbance in equilibrium in any one of these "Doshas" leads to disease. Where one "Dosha" increases, treatment is administered to bring back the imbalanced "Dosha" to a state of normal equilibrium. Ayurveda , the traditional Indian system of medicine focuses on the very minutest channels in the human body.It promises the human race a healthy long life. Due to this Ayurveda can never be equated with other medical sciences in the world today. Ayurveda has sound and unchanging fundamental principles, which modern sciences are recognizing the world over.It is no surprise that modern surgery owes many of its advances to the surgery mentioned in Ayurveda.

Several countries in the world like Japan, Germany, and other countries have started recognizing Ayurveda.Ayurveda uses more than 3000 plants. Usually one Ayurvedic medicine contains on an Average 30 to 40 different plants that go into its preparation. Every state in India has full scale Ayurvedic Hospitals as well as separate medical councils for Ayurveda. Extensive research is undertaken world over and several medicines are being evolved day by day.

All these add to the trust that mankind places on Ayurveda. Ayurveda is the ultimate choice as man has realized that eradicating the root cause gives him real cure than a temporary relief. Ayurveda is more relevant than ever in treating the diseases of modern age, through its scientific systems particularly its "Panchakarma" approach. To conclude, Ayurveda prescribes medicines most suitable for each individual according to his body group, his environmental variations like place, habits, seasons etc so that he or she enjoys a healthy and happy life to the full.
